HR Technology and Strategy

HR Logistics' consultants have been involved in multiple HR technology projects as both internal
HR practitioners and external consultants.  Through our experience, we have gained depth and
expertise in multiple HR systems - including "commercial off the shelf" (COTS) solutions,
outsourced solutions, point solutions, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

As former practitioners, we approach every HR technology project with one primary objective - to
ensure the technology supports your organization's business processes most effectively and the
project is successfully managed.  It is our belief that the technology should support you, not you
support the technology.  Consequently, we work with our clients to assess business processes
that can change and those the vendor/software must support "as-is", identify risks and
inefficiencies, provide recommendations on best practices, and re-engineer processes to
achieve business process optimization by leveraging the technology.

Competencies and tools we provide to our clients include:

  • Phase I - Business Case Development and Feasibility Study
  • Business Analysis of the Current State
  • Requirements Gathering and Gap Analysis Between Current and Future States
  • Solution Evaluation and Cost/Benefit Analysis
  • Strategic Planning
  • Business Case Development
  • Phase II - Planning and Vendor Selection
  • Solution Evaluation and RFP Development
  • Vendor and Technology Assessment and Selection
  • Phase III - Implementation
  • Communications and Change Management
  • Project Management
  • Customized Project Training and Leadership

Phase I assesses the current state of technology using business case analysis tools.  Through
this needs assessment and feasibility study, recommendations are formulated and each potential
solution is analyzed and documented with the pros and cons of the solution including risks,
resources, costs, and ROI.

Phase II takes the technology initiative one step further and begins to plan the project execution,
potentially including the development of a RFP (Request for Proposal) which is sent to software
vendors.  During this phase, HR Logistics works with you to design the project plan, consider
risks identified during the business case study, and objectively assess resources and vendors for
the ability to successfully support your business operations based on your needs and your
goals.  We work with you, using the results of the assessment, to develop a plan of action that is
uniquely yours.

Phase III involves the implementation of your technology plan.  The implementation is blended
with the project plan provided by any vendor, customized to your organization, and advocated by
your support from HR Logistics.  We work with you to integrate
  • best practices in project management
  • strong communication and change management
  • collaboration with business owners
  • fiscal and resource accountability
  • and lessons learned from multiple projects.

    Case Study

    Need:   Our consultants have worked
on multiple projects involving the use of
HR technology.  The range of our
    experience includes:
  • conversions due to mergers or
    acquisitions,
  • outsourcing,
  • insourcing,
  • shared services hubs,
  • ERP implementations, and
  • HRIS implementations.

    Action:   Our experience with multiple
projects and clients has provided us with
great depth in HR software and the
    interdependencies that are part of
    integrated systems.  We continuously
    ascertain the value of proposed
    solutions during implementation to
ensure the software is leveraged to
    support your business needs rather
    than subordinating your business
needs to the software.  In addition, we
    provide strong documentation and
    communication competencies which
    ensure these critical components of
    training and business process re-
engineering are not during the hectic
    days of implementation.

    Results:   Our HR practitioner
    backgrounds blend with our financial
    and technical acumen and our
    communication expertise to ensure you
have an advocate within the project
team at all times who understands the
    technology and the implementation
process from start to finish.  We
provide a strong voice for the HR/Payroll
team to ensure your needs are
    considered and evaluated with equal
weight as decisions are made for
    configuration and deployment.
In addition, we are always cognizant of
the impact on the workforce -
    your stakeholders - the managers,
    employees, and executives of your
    organization.
